Pannone Lopes Devereaux & O'Gara Senior Counsel addresses national ECMC conference

Providence, RI (October 11, 2010) - Pannone Lopes Devereaux & O'Gara LLC (PLDO) Senior Counsel Brian J. Lamoureux provided legal expertise as a panelist at the national local counsel conference for the Educational Credit Management Corporation (ECMC), held in Minneapolis, MN on Sept. 24, 2010. ECMC is a not-for-profit entity that, among other things, defends adversary proceedings in bankruptcy courts where borrowers seek to discharge their student loans.

Mr. Lamoureux, who has successfully represented ECMC for almost 10 years, discussed overcoming procedural challenges and hurdles when borrowers sue the wrong student loan creditors in bankruptcy court.

Mr. Lamoureux is an accomplished business litigator with more than 10 years of experience in commercial litigation matters. His areas of expertise include complex commercial litigation, student loan bankruptcy matters, creditors' rights, surety law, construction law, telecommunications zoning, structured settlement transfers. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the Syracuse University College of Law and simultaneously earned a Master of Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Rhode Island, where he was a teaching assistant in American Government and International Relations, and a B.A. in Political Science, cum laude, from Providence College.
