Biography/Practice Areas

Michael A. Milas is an Associate with Pannone Lopes Devereaux & O’Gara LLC and a member of the firm’s Alternative Dispute Resolution and Special Masterships Teams. He focuses his practice as a member of the firm’s Special Mastership in Prison Monitoring Team for the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California, responsible for monitoring prison reform compliance and progress in the implementation of mandatory mental health screening, diagnosis and treatment of prisoners throughout the California prison system.

Attorney Milas is a skilled legal writer and litigator with experience defending the interests of businesses and individuals, and a passionate mental health care advocate. Prior to joining the firm, he was a civil defense attorney, responsible for cases pertaining to insurance defense and commercial tenancy. In this capacity, he represented clients in all stages of litigation from pre-trial investigation and discovery to motions and pleadings preparation through trial and settlement. Additionally, he previously worked in legislative lobbying as a Governmental Affairs Associate and helped secure state and municipal funding on behalf of several nonprofit and for-profit organizations throughout Rhode Island. Earlier in his career, he founded an artist services and consulting business in the music industry after graduating from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Industry.

Attorney Milas earned his J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law, cum laude, and received prestigious CALI Awards in Professional Legal Writing and Technological Innovation and the Law. He is admitted to practice law in Rhode Island and the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island.
