PLDO Partner Brian J. Lamoureux to Address the RI Judiciary on the “Internet of Things” at the 2017 Fall Judicial Conference

Pannone Lopes Devereaux & O’Gara LLC (PLDO) Partner Brian J. Lamoureux, a prominent business litigator and employment attorney who is a national authority on social and digital media law, has been invited to address members of the Rhode Island Judiciary on the “Internet of Things” at the 2017 Fall Judicial Conference. The conference will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the University of Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay campus. Attorney Lamoureux’s presentation will begin at 11:15 a.m. His remarks will include defining the Internet of Things or “IoT” and how this interconnectedness of objects, devices, software, and sensors impacts consumers, the courts, and cases. Attending the conference will be judges and judicial officers of the state’s Supreme Court, Superior Court, District Court, Family Court, Workers’ Compensation Court, and the Traffic Tribunal.

“The onslaught of new technology drives new challenges for individuals and the courts, particularly in the area of data collection and privacy issues,” said Attorney Lamoureux. “Whether we are aware of it or not, the Internet of Things is already impacting consumers, our privacy as individuals, and how criminal and civil court cases are playing out across America. I am honored to address the prestigious members of the judiciary and to share my knowledge and insight on this fast evolving phenomena that has changed our society.”

Attorney Lamoureux is a member of PLDO’s Employment, Litigation and Corporate & Business Teams. His extensive practice areas include complex commercial litigation, employment law, social media law, and creditors’ rights. In addition to being an accomplished business litigator, he is a frequent guest speaker, published author and broadcast commentator on social and digital media legal issues in the news, having made appearances on WPRI-TV, WJAR-TV and NECN-TV.
