PLDO Principal & Municipal Infrastructure Team Leader Teno A. West to Speak on ‘Marketing and Implementing Emerging Waste Conversion Technologies in the US: A Practical Approach” at ISWA’s World Solid Waste Congress in Italy
PLDOPrincipal and Municipal Infrastructure Team Leader Teno A. West is invited to speak at the International Solid Waste Association’s (ISWA) World Congress, to be held in Florence, Italy, in September 2012.
Scientists, academicians, researchers and government officials from across the globe who are working on cutting edge developments and with emerging technologies in solid waste management, and are interested in expanding their businesses into the U.S. will hear Attorney West when he presents the topic “Marketing and Implementing Emerging Waste Conversion Technologies in the US: a practical approach”.
Mr. West’s presentation was selected by the ISWA program committee from over 650 abstracts, and will highlight several considerations that are often overlooked during waste conversion projects in the U.S. due to the disparate state and municipal laws governing such projects from procurement laws to local land use laws; local acceptance; waste aggregation problems; and environmental group opposition and other influencing factors.
Joining Mr. West in Italy will be PLDO Associate Thomas R. Gonnella, and Steven Torres, Esq., Corporation Counsel for the City of Fall River, MA, who will provide case study examples and practical applications to solid waste management challenges faced by an American city.
Mr. West is considered a national authority in the areas of public-private partnerships; water and wastewater law; solid waste management; alternative energy projects; procurement law; and design-build-operate projects. He routinely represents government agencies throughout the United States dealing with the challenges associated with cutting-edge municipal infrastructure projects and related legislation required for undertaking such projects utilizing alternative delivery methods, such as design-build, design-build-operate, and construction management at risk.
Most recently, the international publication, Financier Worldwide, featured an essay by Attorney West on ‘how to do business’ with municipalities in the U.S. in its December 2011 Global Reference Guide. To read his entire essay, please click here.
